North East Office Launch goes off with a bang!

Last week we were thrilled to officially launch our North East office in Newcastle. Having invited a range of clients, suppliers, consultants and agents we were really pleased that so many took time out of their busy schedules to help us celebrate.

After our Regional Manager Pat O’Donnell welcomed delegates, our first speaker Rosie Smith took to the floor. As North East Agent for the Bank of England, Rosie presented some really interesting & quite sobering facts and figures on the economy from a national and local perspective [you can download her presentation below]. Rosie summed up the last five years, comparing this and previous recessions, but happily ended on a positive note by stating that various industry sectors and regions are already showing green shoots. Predictions for the future are for steady growth. From here, the only way is up!

John Nielsen, Partner at CK21, Regional chair of the Construction Industry Council and deputy chair of Constructing Excellence North East was our second speaker. With over 30 years working in the north east construction industry, John has a wealth of knowledge and experience to draw from and encouraged us all to switch off the media & news channels (harbingers of industry doom!), to up-skill and diversify where possible, and to continue to work with excellence.

Following Rosie & John’s presentations, the debate continued with discussion and questions from delegates. It formed a lively debate with many different perspectives being aired. Again, whilst the room widely acknowledged that conditions are still tough, the majority of delegates feel positive about business in the year ahead.

Whether you attended or not, we’d love to know what you think about the state of the economy; how is business for you? Are you bucking the trend?

If you weren’t able to make it we are keen to connect and build our links in the North East, so please either email Pat, or connect with us on any of our social networks Facebook, LinkedIn or Twitter.

P.S. We held our event at The Mile Castle in Newcastle and would thoroughly recommend it as a venue for business use. The staff were really helpful, and the facilities and venue were just right for us. You can contact them here
