Gratterpalm* appointed Ben Johnson Ltd as Workplace Consultants ahead of their Leeds relocation for two purposes:
1) to calculate how much space would be required, and
2) to understand how best to transition from a cellular scheme to open plan working.
Our team completed a series of assessments including employee interviews and storage/workstation audits, the findings of which formed the basis for Gratterpalm’s building search. Ben Johnson further aided the property search by space planning a short list of buildings, and No1 Leeds proved the most suitable location.
Along with the client, DTZ’s building surveying team developed the design further, and the project was tendered as a traditional fit-out and furniture process. Ben Johnson Ltd successfully won the tender and was appointed by Gratterpalm to manage the relocation. Our Furniture team value engineered the furniture scheme by identifying items that could be re-used, then introduced Harrowgreen to manage the move. This enabled Gratterpalm to focus their budget on core areas such as the reception, meeting rooms, and internal breakout areas and tea-points which are key to encouraging employee collaboration. With a very neutral CAT A and CAT B fit-out, brand feature colours were introduced through the furniture to achieve Gratterpalm’s vision for the interior.
