The Brief:
Holiday provider was looking to engage a fit-out and furniture company to help them deliver their call centre and office scheme for York Place, Leeds. A key concern was a high level of visual connection between spaces, whilst still retaining good acoustic performance throughout. Furniture needed to be robust and modern with a long continuity of supply to ensure it was available as the business expanded. Meeting room furniture needed to be flexible to accommodate different styles of meetings, both external and internal.

The Challenges:
The project was time-critical due to an upcoming lease expiry and needed to be delivered in phases. Keeping costs low was also a high priority.

The Solution:
Ben Johnson Ltd were selected after being introduced by a third party and offering competitive pricing compared to their current supplier. We worked with the client, visiting both furniture and partitioning showrooms to identify the best products for their needs. A lot of time and care was spent selecting the right product for call centre workstations as these are the items with the heaviest use. Furniture throughout was chosen based on cleaning merits and build quality. A showroom visit to Connection Seating in Huddersfield saw the client change their views on reception seating. After initially wanting to look at tub chairs for client waiting areas, they changed their minds after seeing the Hive product. It was deemed perfect for waiting clients and informal team meetings alike, so the design was amended to suit. All the meeting rooms incorporate a leather executive chair on castors, selected for its high-quality look coupled with flexibility. A walnut veneer table was selected for the boardroom, and walnut MFC tables in the occasional meeting rooms to continue the look but save on cost.

To ensure the correct partition product was selected, the client spent time at Komfort’s showroom viewing and testing a number of items. Transparency between different zones coupled with high-level acoustic performance was achieved with the use of double-glazed partitioning and doors throughout the scheme. Partition layouts were planned around existing air conditioning units to avoid costly relocation, with only one new unit installed in the comms room.
