The Client:
The Clinkard Group – A footwear retailer business established in 1924, is still family run and dedicated to providing a wide range of high quality, branded footwear. They have 28 retail stores and 4 factory outlets nationwide.


The Brief:
Following a successful initial tender bid, Ben Johnson were appointed by The Clinkard Group to work consultatively with them to design a specific furniture package for their new headquarters. The brief also required an impressive reception area, with a bespoke reception desk and a breakout area for employees to utilise.


The Challenges:
Whilst the furniture at their previous head office was reusable, The Clinkard Group had planned growth within their new headquarters. This meant an audit of the existing furniture was required and incorporating both new and existing into the planed layout and design. The new furniture had to complement and match the finishes of their existing, whilst being cost effective and contemporary.


The Solution:
A series of site visits to previous projects within the local area allowed The Clinkard Group to see and interact with products and meet with existing clients who had undertaken their own projects and been through a similar process.

This was helpful during the selection of furniture for the Training Facility, as the tables required had to be a versatile solution and able to be configured for various different functions, with durable stacking chairs. The use of bold colours within the breakout space was used to create a different feel to the rest of the office for staff to relax and also accommodate for impromptu meetings and collaboration.

For the reception area, a bespoke reception desk was commissioned and finishes were selected to match the staircase detail, creating a lasting first impression upon entry to the building.
