Sector: Manufacturing
Location: Leeds
Scope of Works: Principal Contractor, Design, Fit Out, Furniture Installation

The Brief:
Unilever Research and Development had a desire to refresh their building entrance, challenging Ben Johnson to create the following –

  • a more welcoming & obvious entrance, reflecting the importance of the division
  • a more useable and comfortable area for staff

The Solution:
These objectives were met as creatively as possible incorporating a futuristic “tunnel” and addition of new signage, an interior lobby with extra heating & product display, and new graphics & feature lighting.
A bespoke booth not only added to the appearance of the area but also provided a vital additional meeting space for ad-hoc staff and visitor discussions.
Ben Johnson Ltd developed the scheme and undertook the fit-out on a design and build basis. Overall, the project was a great success, delivered on time, on budget and to a great standard.

Leeds has a world-class R&D facility, and it became clear that the entrance area needed some work to reflect this. What we now have is a “front of house” that is aligned with this high standard, is a pleasant environment to be in, and has become useful again for our staff.

With every project undertaken by the Ben Johnson team, I am confident not only that the end product will meet expectations, but that the execution of the project will be done to an exceptionally high standard. There is always a willingness to go the extra mile and think around obstacles laterally and creatively. I would not hesitate to recommend their work and their personnel.
