Services: Furniture Supply (part of a design and fit-out project)
Ben Johnson design team worked closely with Pryers Solicitors to review their working practices and develop a furniture scheme that improved their business processes.
There were three key issues facing the business and driving the need to relocate:
- the need to move to an open plan scheme whilst balancing the demand for privacy and focussed working.
- storage; like many solicitors practices, Pryers needed to improve space efficiency, file security and information retrieval.
- overall look and feel; the brief was to deliver a scheme that expressed tradition and quality without looking extravagant.
The final scheme utilised a workbench solution for the open plan areas, with a bespoke screen solution to control acoustics, add privacy, and give staff a sense of their own space. By incorporating a management rail, the screens supported monitor arms and work tools providing additional personal storage, freeing up valuable desk space and reducing the overall footprint.
Particular attention was given to the choice of task chair as the fee-earners who spend long periods of time at their desks require an ergonomic seating solution.
To improve the storage of project files, Pryers invested in a cleverly planned storage solution, with areas for live project files near the workstation and an archive area for closed files. The product was supported by improved workplace processes to close, archive and retrieve files when required.
