Scope of Works: Design, Fit-out and Furniture Supply
After a recent privatisation Primary Care Commissioning, who provide training to the NHS, wanted to reflect this through a fun, dynamic space for employees and a flexible, more corporate space for visitors.
Primary Care Commissioning appointed Ben Johnson Ltd as principal design and build contractor through a tender process for their office move to Manor Mills, Leeds.
Key to the design was the flexible interface between reception and back office. The organisation required two distinct areas while visitors are attending which could be opened up to create one space so that receptionists felt part of the wider team. A business lounge was also created for staff to breakaway from their desks for informal meetings and coffee breaks.
The main delivery challenge was the short lead-time. It was business-critical for the client to be in residence by the first week of September, leaving Ben Johnson four weeks to deliver the project whilst simultaneously managing manufacturers August factory shut-downs. The scheme was delivered successfully on time and within budget. The flexible meeting room facility has been so well received that it is now promoted as a revenue-generating space available for hire to external organisations.
