Horizon Platforms
Horizon Platforms
The Brief
Having outgrown their existing office and warehouse space Horizon Platforms had decided to relocate to a new purpose-built facility. Part of the interior had been fitted out already by the main contractor, so the project team were tasked with designing and working within the confines of the new space. Bluesky Design were appointed to design the new office and recommended Ben Johnson as a contractor that could deliver the fit-out package. We secured the works by competitive tender and then worked alongside Bluesky Design and the clients project team to deliver the build contract.
The Solution
A base palette of black, white and grey was selected accented by tones of red to create interest, while natural timbers help to soften the space. The ground floor consists of mainly training and meeting rooms with a small reception area. To the rear of the ground floor was a large breakout area shared by both office and warehouse staff. The intention was to create a breakout area with an airy industrial feel through use of high exposed ceilings and services. A variety of furniture types were used in this space provide zones for different uses, from traditional dining to soft seating and bar height seating. The first floor provided the main office accommodation with a variety of open plan and cellular offices, bringing all departments onto one floor, where previously they had been located in various spaces across their existing site. In addition, a small 1-1 room and touchdown areas with storage below were created to provide informal meeting areas to encourage collaboration between the teams. The result is a real ‘wow’ factor project, completed on time and within budget.
