Payroll Officer

Ben Johnson Ltd are recruiting for a well regarded York employer looking to add a Payroll Officer to their expanding Finance function.

Reporting into the Head of Finance, we are looking for a payroll officer to work with autonomy and manage payroll activity as part of a friendly finance team.

Key responsibilities:

  • Co-ordinate payroll processes for a number of entities from the preparation stage to the distribution of wage slips
  • Manage salary amendments including SPP, SSP and SMP where applicable
  • Oversee the collation of staff timesheets
  • Populate spreadsheets as reconciliation with payroll software
  • Oversee the processing of reports to assist with payroll and pension admin
  • Conduct regular payroll audits to ensure that legislative requirements are adhered to
  • Data entry including data allocation sand collection
  • Be a first point of contact to managers, team leaders and staff on any payroll related queries
  • Ensure that staff benefits such as pension and salary sacrifice schemes are administered correctly

Experience/Skills required:

  • Skills Experience of Sage 50 Payroll or similar
  • Previous payroll experience
  • Ability to work to high standards of accuracy
  • Excellent attention to detail. Good numeracy, administrative and organisational skills
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Knowledge of Excel and Word
  • Payroll and/or relevant finance qualification (AAT)
  • Good customer service skills. Good telephony skills.
