Supporting Charity and the Community

We regularly support local charities. Our team has organised Macmillan coffee mornings, Red Nose Day fundraisers, and competed in events such as Tough Mudder, Total Warrior, and Race for Life to raise money for local causes.

We also undertake pro bono work, supporting local small businesses and schools. When removing redundant furniture from projects, we work with local charities and schools to upcycle furniture and find it a new home.

Andy’s Man Club

Andy’s Man Club started off in Halifax, offering a free talking group for men, challenging the stigmas around male mental health. Andy’s man club now have 69 clubs across the UK, and they continue to grow. We wanted to support the amazing work this charity does for men across the UK, and encourage more men to get talking about their mental and physical health. In July 2022, some of the Ben Johnson team completed the Yorkshire 3 Peaks, and raised over £1000, the tough challenge consisted of 24 miles of walking over 12 hours.

Family Fund

Family Fund are a York-based charity and the largest of its kind providing grants for families right across the UK raising disabled or seriously ill children and young people. By providing grants for a wide range of items, from sensory toys to family breaks, Family Fund helps to alleviate the emotional, physical and financial burdens faced by families, breaking down barriers and improving their quality of life. This year, our team took part in Tough Mudder raising £1200 for the charity. For the full story see our article here.

Yorkshire Children’s Charity

Ben Johnson regularly take part in industry charity events such as the UKREiiF Sportif bike ride in May 2023, supporting Yorkshire Children’s Charity. We also take part in the yearly ‘Pick & Pack’ to support school children in need of basic items such as coats and shoes, it’s a very long and physical day for the team but also very rewarding.

Our Commitment to Workplace Wellbeing

At Ben Johnson Interiors, workplace wellbeing starts with our own people. We believe that a supportive, positive working environment allows our team to do their best work—both for each other and for our clients.

We prioritise creating a healthy, balanced workplace where everyone feels valued, connected and able to thrive. From encouraging regular breaks and collaboration to hosting social events that bring our team together, we make space for genuine connection and moments away from the day-to-day. These interactions help strengthen relationships, boost morale and create the sense of community we’re proud of.

Volunteering in the community

We have been collecting for York Foodbank since 2016 and began volunteering as a team in 2017. St Leonard’s is another charity that is close to our hearts. As a local hospice, most of our team members have been touched by the caring service this wonderful place provides in one way or another. We support them regularly in a number of ways through taking part in their annual “It’s a Knockout” competition.
