Andy’s Man Club started off in Halifax, offering a free talking group for men, challenging the stigmas around male mental health. Andy’s man club now have 69 clubs across the UK, and they continue to grow. We wanted to support the amazing work this charity does for men across the UK, and encourage more men to get talking about their mental and physical health. In July 2022, some of the Ben Johnson team completed the Yorkshire 3 Peaks, and raised over £1000, the tough challenge consisted of 24 miles of walking over 12 hours.
Family Fund are a York-based charity and the largest of its kind providing grants for families right across the UK raising disabled or seriously ill children and young people. By providing grants for a wide range of items, from sensory toys to family breaks, Family Fund helps to alleviate the emotional, physical and financial burdens faced by families, breaking down barriers and improving their quality of life. This year, our team took part in Tough Mudder raising £1200 for the charity. For the full story see our article here.
We have been collecting for York Foodbank since 2016 and began volunteering as a team in 2017. St Leonard’s is another charity that is close to our hearts. As a local hospice, most of our team members have been touched by the caring service this wonderful place provides in one way or another. We support them regularly in a number of ways through taking part in their annual “It’s a Knockout” competition. Additionally, Ben Johnson regularly take part in industry charity events such as the UKREiiF Sportif bike ride in May 2023, supporting Yorkshire Children’s Charity.
As a business we are committed to recycling as much of our everyday waste as we possibly can. In the year to March 2017 we recycled 11.42 tonnes of everyday office waste from our Head Quarters and this is set to increase with improved procedures. Our carefully selected waste management partner – Todd Waste Management – operates a 0% to landfill policy.
But it’s not just junk mail and old envelopes. In the last three years, we have recycled 15,631kg of furniture packaging alone which represents a saving of 13,301 kg of CO2. We do this through the Senator recycling programme.
