To create an interesting workspace, comprising of an open plan desk arrangement for 14 people; a resource point; a meeting room for 12 people; a meeting room for 4 people; and an informal area where staff could work away from their desk.
The building’s structure, including an atrium which formed part of the workspace, many columns and the position of existing mechanical and electrical services – had to be carefully considered when planning the layout.
We worked closely with the client to achieve an optimal layout within this challenging footprint. The meeting rooms were positioned so that Millican Law can welcome their clients straight into the smaller meeting room from the large shared atrium space, which is filled with natural light. To encourage this natural light into the workspace, both meeting rooms have internal glazed partition fronts, providing a perfect elevation for branding.
The bench desks and bespoke resource point, which has built-in storage, were positioned diagonally to prevent the space feeling too uniform and formal. Snippets of colour can be found within the details of the furniture, with more of a playful approach in the larger meeting room. The informal touchdown table in the open plan area provides a high level work and meeting space for staff to use spontaneously.
