Holiday provider Icelolly.com was looking to engage a fit-out and furniture company to help them deliver their call centre and office scheme for York Place, Leeds. A key concern was a high level of visual connection between spaces, whilst still retaining good acoustic performance throughout. Furniture needed to be robust and modern with a long continuity of supply to ensure it was available as the business expanded. Meeting room furniture needed to be flexible to accommodate different styles of meetings, both external and internal. The project was time-critical due to an upcoming lease expiry and needed to be delivered in phases. Keeping costs low was also a high priority.

Ben Johnson guided the Icelolly project team through the process, visiting both furniture and partitioning showrooms to identify the best products for their needs. A lot of time and care was spent selecting the right furniture products based on robustness, cleaning merits and build quality. The selected furniture items included workstations, café & breakout, waiting area, offices and meeting rooms. To ensure the correct partition product was selected, the client spent time at Komfort’s showroom viewing and testing various products. Transparency between different zones coupled with high-level acoustic performance was achieved with the use of double-glazed partitioning and doors throughout the scheme. Partition layouts were planned around existing air conditioning units to avoid costly relocation, with only one new unit installed in the comms room.
