The Brief

Global Commercial Property Consultant Cushmand & Wakefield offers a full range of integrated property services.

Ben Johnson Interiors were their choice partner for their North East office relocation. The design scheme required a focus on the client/visitor experience, paying particular attention to the reception, meeting room and the boardroom facilities. As the base build of the proposed premises was very cellular, C&W requested a more open plan space to make it bright and welcoming with lots of natural light. The final challenge was to re-use and recycle as much material from the current location as possible.

The Solution

Full floor-to-ceiling glazed partition was specified to ensure transparency and continuity between the staff and client areas. This approach ensured staff members are visible to incoming visitors, who could then remain within designated meeting areas without feeling isolated.

To ensure maximum potential for recycling was met, all existing furniture was relocated and bulkheads were designed to the correct height ensuring glazed partitions could be re-used. Whilst recycling was an important part of the scheme, some sense of a “new” office was essential. To achieve this, brand new carpets and a refreshed tea area were installed into the scheme.

Completing an office refurbishment, in an occupied building, within a tight time-frame, using elements of existing partitioning and joinery is a challenge. The experience of Ben Johnson Interiors of working in occupied building was evident, the process was seamless and delivered on time and within budget. I would have no problem recommending Ben Johnson for future fit-out projects.
