Kelda Water Services (KWS) is a leading water and waste water contract operations company, delivering large scale and long-term infrastructure solutions throughout the United Kingdom.

Kelda Water appointed Ben Johnson to supply the furniture for their new office space at Capitol Park, Barnsley. When developing the furniture scheme, our workplace consultant audited Kelda Water’s existing office premises and found the teams were very project based, and needed layout facilities near their desks for drawings and documents together with a way of storing live project files near the workstation.

Through a series of user workshops, it was determined that Kelda would get better value from providing each user with a storage return and a range of work tools instead of the traditional pedestal. The audit also found that the existing premises had a lack of meeting room provision, so the design increased the number of meeting rooms and incorporated a range of breakout spaces through flexible meeting tables next to the desks and storage islands that doubled as layout/meeting spaces.

The canteen area was also designed so that it could be used for breaks and project meetings, and instead of a formal reception area, comfortable waiting areas were created which could also be used for informal meetings with colleagues and suppliers. The WOW factor was the ‘Help the Heroes’ Partitioning Manifestation, our design team had lots of fun drawing Helicopters, Submarines, Tanks….
