Skanska
The Brief
Ben Johnson Interiors were to support Skanska’s project management team as an FF&E consultant during their new-build office project, providing furniture space planning and specification advice. The most unusual challenge was meeting the delivery/installation criteria as a supplier to a Skanska construction site. All delivery vehicles had to be minimum Bronze FORS Accredited ensuring all accredited wagons and drivers reach a certain safety and environmental standard. All waste from site had to be recycled and a Ben Johnson project manager attended site project meetings during the latter build stages to coordinate installation dates and schedule deliveries. The FF&E package included 200 Double Wave Workstations and associated storage, canteen area, open plan breakout areas, meeting and boardroom furniture and the supply of lockers for the factory floor.
The Solution
Through the specification phase, we arranged for Skanska to visit several of our completed projects, by seeing potential solutions in use, hearing user feedback and even testing products in-situ, the client was able to make a shortlist of furniture products. Senator made the supplier short list and we arranged a showroom trailer to be delivered to the existing site, demonstrating products and holding staff workshops to involve them in the decision-making process. The Senator solution was complemented by general storage, and breakout furniture supplied by Orangebox and Connection. The final WOW factor was delivered with a bespoke reception desk and boardroom table tailored to reflect the Skanska brand.
